How To Use A Gratitude Journal

Having a gratitude journal is a great way to cultivate a more positive mental attitude in your life. A gratitude journal is one of those little tools that can help anyone to see the abundance that they already possess in their life just by thinking about all the things one can be grateful for on a consistent basis.

What Is It

To put it simply, a gratitude journal can be any small notebook that you use you everyday to record your thoughts and ideas on why you are grateful and why you should be grateful. In a way, it forces you to take your mind off of the things that you do not want in life and instead it helps you to focus on the things that are going right for you as well as the good things that you want to bring about in your life.

You can use your gratitude journal any one of several different ways once you use it on a regular basis, at least once or twice per day.

How To Use It

The first way is that each morning when you wake up, you can open up your gratitude journal and begin to write down anywhere from five to ten things that you are especially grateful for that morning. At first the exercise may require a bit of thought, especially if you’re used to thinking negatively most of the time, but soon after awhile the ideas will begin to flow and you’ll soon see that you have more to be thankful for than you realized.

The other method is that you can use it at night right before bed and put yourself in a positive state of mind right before you go to sleep. The same process applies where you simply open up the gratitude journal and write down those things that you are grateful for.

Make It Personal

Remember, this exercise is personal and you can write down anything you want, no matter how small, how silly, or even how insignificant you may think something is. The idea is to get your brain juices flowing in the right direction so that you actually switch on your “abundance radar”. This is just another way of saying that your mind is now focused on attracting abundance and more good things in your life towards you since that’s what you’re thinking about.

The gratitude journal is one of the most powerful tools available for anyone that wants to overcome a negative mentality and who wants to increase their chances of attracting good into their lives. By constantly being creative in thinking of new ways you are grateful each new day, you put yourself in a more positive state of emotion and thereby you become more aware of the opportunities and possibilities around you.
